FAQ — What for? — How much? — How to?
1. So what exactly do I mean by "exclusive private Berlin walks and talks"?
Well, just let me give you an example. Let's say you have chosen to explore the area of Moabit in the downtown borough of Berlin-Mitte. There we may stroll along the boulevard-type street Alt-Moabit. It is at least as multicultural as Kreuzberg's Oranienstrasse and you may feel a bit like being in an Arab country (at least in the summer ;-) ), but this street has not been spotted by tourists yet. So while we (and that means ONLY you and your small party) are walking and talking, I will introduce you not only to the history of the area and / or its current situation, but also to the most recent the changes and developments since a friend of mine is city councellor of that district - PLUS, there may also be some personal stories.
Hence …
2. You pay for …
As just outlined, getting a true "behind-the-scenes" picture of Berlin takes a lot more than just seeing the most touristy spots. That you can easily do by utilizing Berlin's very good hop-on/hop-off bus tours, for instance. However, for obtaining the real background information about the German capital it is essential to know someone who is part of and has access to the Berlin society including excellent connections to the top ranks of the city government. With me, therefore, you get:
- first-class background & insider information and insights
- truly personal and personalized tour
- a wonderful, authentic experience never to be forgotten
- you choose what you would like to wish to explore/where/when you would like to go
- no tight time schedule
- guaranted no tourist traps
- only you/your party (max. 5 people) or one family
You DO NOT PAY for simple informations from a typed script memorized by twinky ex-pats or students having just arrieved three years ago maximum.
3. How much? |
 |
- 4-5 hrs: 300 Euros/party (i.e. If your are a party of 5, everyone will only pay 60 Euros for this unique experience!)
- Full day (8-9 hrs) 500 Euros/party
- A Berlin night out (4-5 hrs) 500 Euros/party
A special arrangement can be made for lunch or dinner in the roof-top club restaurant of the German Foreign Office. Access only for club members like myself and their friends. Semi-formal dress code applies.
Please ask for details two weeks ahead!
Another slightly less formal, wonderful venue for lunch or dinner (Mon-Fri only) is a private club restaurant on the 2nd floor above Berlin's "fashion lane" Friedrichstasse. Again: entrance only for members and their friends only, too.
Please note: Aside from the big hotels, well-known restaurants, department stores and the like, quite a lot establishments - and especially the more interestimg ones - (bars, museums, places for the "natives" etc.) do not accept credit cards. This is a big difference to the United States and other countries. Using cash to pay the bill is still a much used method of payment in Germany … and even Berlin cab drivers at the airport may not accept credit cards … Berlin, ach Berlin … :-)
4. Please keep in mind:
Since I have my job with the German Parliament, you can experience your private Berlin walking tour on Saturdays, Sundays, and possibly Mondays only. Therefore, please contact me via email at least a week before your stay in Berlin - better even two or three weeks - to make all necessary arrangements.
Upon your arrival in Berlin just give me a call or let me call you to confirm your reservation and to agree on the time when to meet you in your hotel etc. To provide you with the greatest possible flexibility, please be prepared to pay in cash or by travelers' check upon our return to your hotel at the end of the tour. It is as easy and safe as that.
If you cannot show up, please do not forget to let me know as soon as possible. This will be greatly appreciated.
